                                  A TINY MESSENGER

Brittany was born on the anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun, October 13, 1991 to Rick and Melissa Maraist.  Brittany’s two siblings pictured are Brett and Brooke Maraist.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
Revelations 21:4

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."
- John. 14:3

Brittany Maraist passed away at 8 years old. Confined.  Bedridden. Victim Soul.  Her life has not ended but has changed. Though she is so missed we know that her life in the fullness has just begun, in a place where joy is eternal and laughter resounds,  there is no pain and love is the only law in the place that God prepared for her!

At A Tender 4 Months Everything Changed

Holding her at 3 months old, I reminisce to such a perfect moment of love and tenderness.  Thinking I had a lifetime with her, but at 4 months old she developed bacterial meningitis and in 24 hours our lives drastically changed.   It left her in a semi comatose state for the rest of her short life.

In the midst of turmoil, a "Guste" of God's wind came and brought a beautiful blessing for Brittany...

Msgr. Robert Guste
Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Going through papers about my daughter Brittany, I found this article I had saved.  This article is not about my daughter…but reminds me of Msgr. Guste’s works into the wee hours…. How he came at night while Brittany was in PICU with swelling on the brain from Meningitis to minister to her!

…I was the only family member @ the hospital that night … Msgr. Guste came out to meet me after visiting with Brittany and he said he felt something very special about her.  Msgr. Guste asked if he could administer the Sacrament of Confirmation to Brittany, only 4 months old.  I said yes!   This was so significant because at the time the sacrament was administered in 8th grade.  It is currently administered in 11th grade.

I will never forget 2 other special encounters I had with Msgr. Guste.

One morning after mass, Msgr. Guste was offering confession. After I confessed my sins, Msgr. Guste asked me if I had received the Eucharist that day.  I said, “No Father I have not.” He asked me to go wait in the pew.  He asked the altar ladies to relight the altar candles.  It still makes me emotional recalling this event.  He then let me receive Holy Communion, the Eucharist!  I cannot express the love that radiated through my heart!  I was no one special…I felt so loved!

My last memory was 2 weeks before Msgr. Guste passed away! I was exiting St. Rita’s St. Joseph Adoration Chapel and as I opened the door Msgr. Guste was entering the chapel!  He had the biggest smile on his face and he said, “Hello Melissa!”  We greeted each other and it would be my last visit with Msgr. Guste!  It’s a memory I will never forget and can still picture his smile today!

Medjugorje
Bosnia - Herzegovina

Medjugorje ("between the hills") has become well known in Bosnia-Hercegovina, and the world, because of six young people who claim to have seen visions of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Beginning on June 24, 1981, the Blessed Mother appeared to, and later told the visionaries, God sent her to our world to help us convert our hearts and lives back to Him. Our Lady's call is one of Peace, Love, Faith, Conversion, Prayer, and Fasting. We are each challenged to answer Our Lady's call to change our lives, and hearts back to God. The following links to 100+ documents of information, interviews, and testimonies provide a well rounded, and accurate account and perspective of one of the greatest events in modern history.

TWO Precious Gifts Brought to our home,
one a EUCHARISTIC MIRACLE…

On October 4, 1998, I received a phone call from Marie Taylor at 3PM, telling me she had a Eucharistic Miracle in her possession, and she wanted to pray with Brittany.  The Eucharistic Miracle happened after Fr. Robert DeGrandis consecrated the host at mass.  Fr. Robert was in Galveston, TX, when the host bled on the Corporal during mass.  A Corporal is the white linen cloth, upon which the Sacred Host and chalice are placed during mass.
Fr. DeGrandis had just landed in New Orleans and Marie picked him up at the airport and dropped him off to run a quick errand.  He left the Eucharistic Miracle in her possession.  When Marie called me, she said she had a few minutes and felt she should bring the miracle to Brittany.  Marie told me her son John confirmed to her the miracle should be brought to Brittany.
When Marie arrived, she handed me the Miracle.  Me, Rick, Brooke and Marie went into Brittany’s room.   I opened the Corporal and placed the Corporal (white cloth) with the blood of Christ, on Brittany’s head.  I prayed and asked JESUS to heal Brittany.  Afterwards, I folded the Corporal and handed the Miracle to Marie.

She asked Rick and Brooke if they wanted to touch it.

They each placed their hand forward touching the folded Corporal.  The next morning on October 5th, my 3-year-old daughter Brooke went into Brittany’s room to visit Paula, Brittany’s caregiver.  Brooke starts telling Paula about an angel she saw all in white sitting on Brittany’s bed.  Paula questioned Brooke and realized Brooke saw the angel when the Eucharistic Miracle was on Brittany.  A Eucharistic Miracle is the actual, body and blood of Jesus Christ.  Jesus is always accompanied by angels wherever He goes.  If you ask my daughter Brooke about the miracle today, she will tell you she only remembers us talking about it.

Annemariea Schmidt+

Prisoner of war... Survivor, Speaker, Mystic
Annemariea Schmidt grew up in a very devout Catholic family in Czechoslovakia. She speaks on her persecution at Auschwitz and on the Russian battlefront. Annemariea explains how her love for Christ grew through her astounding trials, and how she was led to see the hand of God working in them all.

One gift God gave her was never to smell the stench of the World War II war camp again, and what follows her was the fragrance of roses that people witness.  Everywhere she touched Brittany left the fragrance of roses.

After a Eucharistic Procession, Melissa got in line to have  Annemariea Schmidt pray with Brittany…
   As they approached
Annemariea, a lady presented Melissa and Brittany to  asking her if she could pray with this baby.  Annemariea said, "JESUS asked me to pray for this baby!!!"   She then prayed over Brittany and said, "JESUS, heal this VICTIM soul!"  She then turned to Melissa and said, "This baby is before the THRONE of GOD and praying for souls."  She said, "As tiny as she is, she is praying BEFORE GOD FOR SOULS!!!"
A VICTIM SOUL is someone who has been chosen by God to undergo physical, and sometimes spiritual, suffering beyond that of normal human experience.  The victim soul willingly accepts this unique and difficult mission of offering up his or her pains for the salvation of others.

*The painting is called ‘Butterflies, nothing in life ever dies, it only changes form.'  The artist, Linda Schafer, painted the portrait for a family who through a great tragedy, lost their daughter, Ashley at only 14 years of age.  Ashley Tutt was hit by a car while rollerblading in which she sustained fatal injuries.

The beautiful image resides at the home of Ashley's parents, Nanette and Kyng Tutt.
